- Campaign of the United Nations and International Advertising Association – hope for the global movement to tackle the climate change.
The United Nations, together with the International Advertising Association launched the global marketing campaign entitled Hopenhagen. Its aim is to initiate worldwide movement that empowers global citizens to engage in the UN Climate Change Conference (COP15) in Copenhagen.
- Climate change is one of the epic challenges facing this and future generations. It is time to seal a deal. We need a global movement that mobilizes real change - said UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon. - Hopenhagen is about global action for a global climate treaty and a better future for humankind - added Ban Ki-moon.
Hopenhagen campaign was launched at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival on 23th of June, 2009.
The main aim of the campaign is to change the approach to climate issues from coping with its consequences to giving hope in looking for new ways of counteracting the climate change itself.
Organizers wish the Hopenhagen was an “open source” campaign for everyone who wants to take part in discussion concerning climate change, also through the website hopenhagen.org. The website allows users to send messages to the UN delegates attending the Conference.
